Setting Intentions for 2024

2024 is finally here and not only was the first of January the beginning on the year and the beginning of the month - it was also a Monday - marking the ultimate reset day. With an opportunity like this I just had to use the day to set my intentions for the rest of the year. What do I want to work on? What do I want to achieve? And what am I looking forward to most in 2024?

Autumn Slow Living Update

How do you start writing again after a few months off? Just start! It’s some of the best and most cliché pieces of advice in the writing world. And I unashamedly love clichés. Especially when I can apply them to the neglect of my blog. But before I go on, no this isn’t going to be a promise to get back on the grind, write two blog posts a week and obsessively check my blog stats. Because that wouldn’t be very slow living of me now, would it?

Summer Slow Living Update

It’s been a while since I talked about my slow living lifestyle here on my blog. And ironically, I guess that’s the point of living a slow lifestyle. After purposefully living more slowly for the past few years, I am now 100% comfortable with not pushing myself to do something that I am not feeling excited about at the time. And that’s the whole reason why I haven’t talked much about it here. I wasn’t super excited to write about it. However, it’s been a few months and I am happy to say that I’m now motivated to talk about my slow lifestyle again.

Why Hustle Culture Is Damaging Your Mental Health

In the age of "girl boss” influencers, powerful female entrepreneurs and Forbes 30 under 30 lists it’s hard not to compare yourself to the success of others. Wherever you scroll you’re met with her success story, his journey from rags to riches and how you too can be like them if you just put in a little more work and get your side hustle off the ground. But of course, it won’t be easy. You need to put the work in, carry on at your 9 to 5 and then come home only to grind at being your own boss until the early hours of the morning. Then get up, and do it all over again without fail. After all, that’s the only way you could possibly be successful.

How would my skin possible survive? Well, I am actually relived to say that I have completed three months without my skincare routine and my skin is relatively unscathed.

Travel Diaries: My (Sort Of) Travel Wishlist For 2023

There’s no better way to start the new year than dreaming up what adventures it could bring. Now whilst I have a endless travel wishlist - I know it’s not practical to visit them all in 2023. So instead of just putting together a list of countries, I’m putting together a list of experiences I want to have this year. Some can be abroad, some a bit closer to home in the UK and some I can even do in London, where I am living at the moment.

Why New Year, New Me Isn't Always Good For You

It’s the new year and whilst I am happy to be in 2023, I am not happy about the unnecessary pressure that the new year can bring. For too long we have been bombarded with “new year, new me” rhetoric that is designed to knock our self-esteem in order for us to become vulnerable to whatever it is we are being sold. Be it workout equipment, a diet plan, a self-help book or a training course.

January recap

Although I wouldn’t say that I have had a typical January - it’s been pretty goood. For most people January is about resetting, getting a fresh start and working on goals. However, for a while I’ve been treating January like most months - I don’t need to reset, unlearn behaviours, set outlandish goals or put undue pressure on myself. I have been enjoying the slow start to the new year and smelling all of the flowers along the way.

Why "That Girl" Aesthetic Can Be Damaging

January is in full swing and so are the “new year, new me” campaigns. If you know me then you probably already know why I am really against these kind of campaigns. However, I’m not here today to talk about these. I am talking about a new health and wellness mantra filling all our social feeds on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. I am talking about “that girl”.
