Welcome to another Conquering Curvy post. Summer is in full swing here in London (despite the miserable weather!) and I am determined to get my cutest floral dresses out! However, like most other full busted ladies I dread doing the awkward and frustrating strapless bra shimmy. Over the past seven years I can assure you that I have tried a truckload of strapless bras, all to no avail. They all offered literally no support. I may as well have not worn one.
Is it too much to ask for to wear a cute strapless number and not feel like I am constantly hiking the girls up? I thought so. That is until last summer when I discovered the Wonderbra *insert heavenly angel music here*. I know Wonderbras have been around for years, but I never knew (and never bothered to enquire) that they stocked fuller bust sizes! They only go up to an F cup, however I found that going down a cup size works for me anyway.
This is the best bra I have ever owned. Ever. I know it's not much to look at but let's face it, we don't care what it looks like, we just want it to work! And believe me, it does. This specific bra is the classic ultimate strapless bra. One of the best things about this bra is that it is almost completely undetectable, even when it's underneath the tightest dress. Recently, I wore this with a bodycon pencil dress and I could barely see it.
I know this bit looks pretty weird but that hand shape in the corner makes all the difference when it comes to support and lift. Instead of spilling out over the top or to the side the bra holds you in securely. Additionally can you see those clear elastic looking strips? These are what stops your from doing that awful bra shimmy. I can say wholeheartedly that I have never had to pull this bra up once.
Like any trusted bra it has three rows of hooks. I don't know about you ladies but I literally do not bother with bras that have less than three rows of hooks. They provide that all valuable support that us fuller busted ladies cannot live without.
Although I cannot recommend this bra enough, what I recommend even more if that you get professionally measured and buy the correct size. Unfortunately, majority of women in the UK wear the incorrect bra size. This can not only cause discomfort but also cause blockages in your lymph nodes and cause skin abrasions.
In regards to this post I was thinking of doing a series of Conquering Curvy posts about bra fittings and how each UK high street store stacks up against one another. Let me know what you think in the comments below. Also, if you have any recommendations on strapless bras for other DD+ ladies please comment below. You never know, you could be providing an answer that another lady has been searching for.
