Spring Cleaning My Blog And My Life
It's been a while...
Again. Sorry. But really I am not going to apologise. Not because I'm not grateful for all of my readers or my blog but because I'm trying to prioritise balance in my life and I've just started to get comfortable with figuring it out. When I was posting 2-3 times a week, I was putting myself under quite a lot of pressure and I wasn't spending anywhere near enough time away from my computer. In short I wasn't being good to myself or the people in my life.
That's why I decided to spring clean my life. I know February may be a little early to start thinking about spring cleaning but it's the best way I can describe this mini life detox. It's not just about getting rid of stress - it's learning how to balance everything in my life. My loved ones, my career, my social life, my blog and my health both physical and mental. It can sometimes seem hard to handle. But I'm learning.
First of all, let's talk about my blog - you've probably noticed that its changed quite a lot. So, recently, I decided to re-brand my entire blog. Not because I didn't like how it looked before, but because I wanted a fresh new look that I could carry on for quite a few years to come. I got rid of my signature pink and replaced it with black and white. Although I love still love pink, I think the monochrome theme is where my style and photography are heading. I have been creating more travel posts recently too, and I think that the monochrome theme will definitely compliment the images in these posts more.
Now - the juicy part. What am I doing differently in my life now? Well, the biggest change is my focus on my physical health. I've been going to the gym more often, taking spinning classes and just trying to eat more intuitively. I got to a point in the middle of last year where I really felt down about my body and the way I looked. However I don't think this was because I was grossly out of shape - I think I was just spending too much time comparing myself to others and chipping away at my own self-esteem. But now, I am a lot happier with myself. And this is not because I've lost weight or changed in any way physically. I've just changed my mind set and an exercise schedule has helped me do this.
Also for those of you who don't know, my day job has me travelling a lot more than I used to. It's taken me a while to adjust to the business travel lifestyle, however now after doing it for half a year I'm a lot better adjusted. To be honest, travelling for work is really fun but it can get a little bit lonely sometimes. But as I said, over the last few months I've been getting used to this and actually finding ways to use my time in hotels and on planes more productively (stay tuned for a business travel tips post coming soon!).
So I think I'm going to leave this post here now. I know I haven't said much but I'm planning on doing a few different posts soon where I talk about these issues and changes I've been going through in more detail. Until then, enjoy my blogs new look, keep your eyes peeled for new content and let me know what you think in the comments below!
