October Recap

October is my favourite month of the year and I am kind of sad it flew by so fast. I did alot this month. I used the beginning of the month to take some time off work and go on a little staycation to Cornwall with my husband. The rest of the month was dedicated to getting prepped for a fun D&D party, playing some Animal Crossing and just taking life slowly. It was a pretty blissful month.

As I am getting older I am learning that it’s okay to not fill everyday with something productive, meaningful or important. Sometimes we need those days where we do nothing but the things we enjoy. For me, the most pleasant weekends I have had have been sitting at home on a rainy day watching movies, playing games, reading, drawing and baking. For me self-care isn’t really about pampering myself, doing meditation or taking a long bath - it’s just about taking time out of my day to do things I want to do by myself. Although I enjoy spending time exploring, being with family and hanging out with friends I know it is not in my best interest to jam pack all of my free time with it. To be honest, I wouldn’t recommend anyone do this.

In order to be the best wife, daughter, sister and friend that I can be - I need to look after myself and give myself what makes me happy. Because when I invest time into myself it is easier for me to dedicate time to others. After doing some self-care I am not as overwhelmed, stressed or anxious therefore I can put my energy in to being more present and supportive.
