Nestled on the windswept cliffs overlooking the picturesque town of Whitby, Whitby Abbey is one of my favourite historical ruins to date. Not only is it home to rich history, architectural grandeur and beautiful views it is also linked to the classic gothic novel “Dracula” and various other supernatural occurrences. So when I visited in the autumn of 2023, I thought I’d snap some quick pictures of the ruin and highlight some of my favourite things to see and do there.

2024 is finally here and not only was the first of January the beginning on the year and the beginning of the month - it was also a Monday - marking the ultimate reset day. With an opportunity like this I just had to use the day to set my intentions for the rest of the year. What do I want to work on? What do I want to achieve? And what am I looking forward to most in 2024?

How do you start writing again after a few months off? Just start! It’s some of the best and most cliché pieces of advice in the writing world. And I unashamedly love clichés. Especially when I can apply them to the neglect of my blog. But before I go on, no this isn’t going to be a promise to get back on the grind, write two blog posts a week and obsessively check my blog stats. Because that wouldn’t be very slow living of me now, would it?

It’s been a while since I talked about my slow living lifestyle here on my blog. And ironically, I guess that’s the point of living a slow lifestyle. After purposefully living more slowly for the past few years, I am now 100% comfortable with not pushing myself to do something that I am not feeling excited about at the time. And that’s the whole reason why I haven’t talked much about it here. I wasn’t super excited to write about it. However, it’s been a few months and I am happy to say that I’m now motivated to talk about my slow lifestyle again.

There are a lot of factors that come into play when we consider what makes you skin clearer. Sometimes a big one can be your genetic makeup, which, even with all the best products and life choices in the world, we cannot prevent. However there are still many factors we can influence like what products we use on our skin and making the right lifestyle choices. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’re probably familiar with the fact that I only use cruelty-free skincare products on my skin but even then, I’ve been on quite the journey to narrow down my skincare products. So, with my minimal skincare routine, I rely on quite a few other things that help keep my skin as clear as possible.

As one of the millions of people living and working in the UKs most populous city, I need to find ways to spend my long weekends without contending with the hustle and bustle that is London. So, over the last few years whenever we have a bank holiday - especially if it’s one of those many ones in Spring, my husband and I, and occasionally our friends, make our little pilgrimage down to the south coast. And more times than not, we find ourselves in the New Forest or Hayling Island.

In the age of "girl boss” influencers, powerful female entrepreneurs and Forbes 30 under 30 lists it’s hard not to compare yourself to the success of others. Wherever you scroll you’re met with her success story, his journey from rags to riches and how you too can be like them if you just put in a little more work and get your side hustle off the ground. But of course, it won’t be easy. You need to put the work in, carry on at your 9 to 5 and then come home only to grind at being your own boss until the early hours of the morning. Then get up, and do it all over again without fail. After all, that’s the only way you could possibly be successful.

Spring is that weird time of year in the UK where the weather doesn’t really know what it’s doing. Sometimes you wake up in the morning to gleaming sunshine and other days there is a torrential down pour. If there is one thing I have learnt from my almost 30 years of living in the UK it’s that you can never trust what the weatherman says. However in true Brit fashion, I never let a spot of bad weather get in my way of having a great day. So here 10 things to do in the UK in spring whether it’s a rainy, cloudy, sunny or stormy day.

It’s almost the start of spring, and whilst I am excited for the warmer weather, we’re not quite there in London yet. It’s still that awkward in-between time where if I don’t layer up I’ll freeze but if I wear heavy clothes I am going to overheat on the underground. So what’s a London girl to wear in weather like this?

Since 2020 haircare has become a big focus for me. Especially now as my hair is finally back to looking healthy after years of damaging it through dyes, straighteners and curlers. For a bit of context, I have been dying my hair in some form or another since the very young age of 10! Yes, you heard that right, I was just 10 years old when I got my first set of highlights. On top of this I also began straightening my naturally curly hair around the same time. For some reason at 10 years old I already hated my hair - but that’s another story.

No skincare routine for three months? Are you mad? A year ago, I too would have said the same thing. How can I go on without layering my serums, acids, toners, moisturises, cleansers, masks and exfoliators? Wouldn’t I be risking too much, especially now that I am on the wrong side of 25? How would my skin possible survive? Well, I am actually relived to say that I have completed three months without my skincare routine and my skin is relatively unscathed.

There’s no better way to start the new year than dreaming up what adventures it could bring. Now whilst I have a endless travel wishlist - I know it’s not practical to visit them all in 2023. So instead of just putting together a list of countries, I’m putting together a list of experiences I want to have this year. Some can be abroad, some a bit closer to home in the UK and some I can even do in London, where I am living at the moment.
